My overall impression

In this low-tech one woman show, Pam Noles, gives an honest account of geek love chronically her relationship with a fellow geek and her love of Michael Bay and Autobot Optimus Prime. She mixes it up a bit with stories of her career as a features reporter for various news outlets- including covering a 90210 shoot as an extra and documenting a gator hunt. Her fearlessness in “getign things done” is prompted by her “Prime”, a man who refuses to reciprocate her amorous feelings but with whom she is perfectly matched. Her performance is storytelling at its most raw and heart wrenching. When you find out that she has the chance to be in Transformers as an extra you are rooting for her all the way. This is Noles first time on the stage ever (she seems a natural!) and while her vocal skills at times make her difficult to hear- when she gets the most passionate- you strain forward in your seat and hope no one makes a sound because you don’t want to miss an aside. Funny, touching, intimate and smart-this is real fringe.
