About the Project
Comrades (Kamraterna), A new translation of Strindberg’s satire on the emancipation of women. His domestic tensions intruding into this comedy, Strindberg darkened its humor as he explores the then, as now, modern ideal of the equality of the sexes or of equal opportunities for men and women. Strindberg questions this principle, for the wife becomes the husband’s rival while at the same time arrogating to herself the time-honored prerogatives of woman.
