A collection of verses from different voices, Sp¡t speaks confidently to each person in the audience about those experiences we all know but rarely hear about. There are these moments when the entire cast comes together to give a greater depth and resonance to familiar scenes. With deft writing, from Alex Alpharaoh, and attentive direction, from Elisa Noemí, the production honors its subject matter and the audience.
Gabriela Ortega and Omete Anassi bring their fresh talent to a fraught and difficult relationship dilemma, while Alana Duvernay and Antonio Glass deal with the human complexity of reaching through struggle to find intimacy when surrounded by dangerous external forces.
In the hands of Joshua Duron, Luis Kelly-Duarte, Glenn Bruno, Carla Valentine and Isabella Eisenpresser, the stories and voices we so often are deprived of were offered up to us, each filled with bright humanity, intelligence and strength.
It’s an experience you won’t find in any other show that’s been put up in the Fringe and you should not miss it.
