...or Dare - wherein lies the truth?

"Or Dare" is the shared title given to these two one-act plays and although both are very different, the theme is similar... how important is honesty, if it is the lies that can set you free? The first one-act, Viki Boyle's "The Whole Truth" is an intriguing play that opens on two women sharing a bedroom. They clearly have a history, but don't know each other that well. The chemistry between the actors, Jennifer Ashe and Kate Whitney elevates the play from very good to great. They parry back and forth like old friends desperately trying to avoid the elephant in the room. Overall, the acting in the two one-act plays that made up or Dare was phenomenal. In the intimate setting the three actresses drew the audience in with their playful sense of humor, and offered a challenge to not only what was the truth, but what would the moral choice be.... full review

Two excellent plays. We really enjoyed "Or Dare - Wherein Lies the Truth?" The acting was brilliant and the script was thought-provoking, honest, and engaging. In the first set, two jurors holed up in a hotel and cut off from the world outside engage in a late night debate and struggle to understand each other, themselves, and the fate of the man on trial. In the second, two strangers meet at a bus stop and begin a suspenseful, challenging game of truth or dare. Highly recommend! ... full review

I loved the 1st act. I wanted to know more about who the ladies were and how their lives turned our after the trial. Not so crazy about the 2nd act. No reflection on the actors,they were amazing. I couldn't really get attached to the characters.... full review

Both one acts were wonderful. Well written and performed perfectly. Each act had situations that could occur in anyone's daily life. I felt more of a connection to the first act as it seemed to be more of a situation I might encounter. However, both were great!!!... full review

Two terrific examples of simple yet complex character interactions. The acting brought the concepts of unlikely relationships to light through truthful life challenges. This was such a smart idea to have a double decker. The first scenario, two stuck women. And it could have been stuck, but because Jenny and Kate understand comedy, every little one liner, every small motion was funny. I found myself nodding at their triumph. Andrea's play, was so interesting, because I really had no idea what was going to happen next. That's my favorite thing about theatre. Ashe is formidable to have put this together. ... full review

Such an AWESOME Surprise!! I went in having NO IDEA what to expect -- but Ashe & her fellow actresses had me engaged from the start AND kept me for the entire 2 part Journey! Incredibly smart & well written, with some great twists & turns -- ADD to that some solid acting -- this is a MUST SEE in my book!... full review

What a lovely show to catch at the Fringe this year. I really didn't know what to expect, but was totally in awe of this show. It's not an easy thing to find two shows that go so well together in order to create an overall evening of theater. However, the three amazing ladies on stage and fabulous direction by Robinson make this the perfect evening! Such great stories that will definitely keep you talking well after you've left the theatre. Ashe, Margolis and Whitney command such presence on stage that you can't help but believe them and be right there in the space the entire time! Great job guys.... full review
