There’s a lot to like about Blood, a Voodoo Love Story: The acting. The script. The direction. I was disappointed to see that it’s not a part of the Encore series, but I hope that some version of this play (hopefully with the original cast) finds wider release soon!
I liked the way that Maria Tomas and Phrederic Semaj create a whole cast of characters during the hour, even though they’re the only two people on stage. They employ techniques that I’ve only seen in one-person shows to tell this very interesting love triangle. Not to give anything away, but the way they treat one character together added an unworldly charm to an unworldly character.
As I said, if you get a chance to see this playm don’t delay in snatching up tickets. I almost missed it, and if not for a chance meeting with Maria the night before their last show, I would have robbed myself of this amazing play.
