My overall impression
LAUREN AND BRENDAN ARE AMAZING. They carried this entire musical by playing every character just between the two of them! And they did it effortlessly. It never looked like hard work. Even at the end of the show, they didn’t even seem out of breath! AFTER SINGING FOR AN HOUR STRAIGHT AND PRACTICALLY NEVER LEAVING THE STAGE! That is a feat in and of itself. The writing is fantastic. The songs are catchy. The premise is so adorably sad and funny. Hard to believe this actually happened! I loved every minute of it. GO GO GO! This is a must-see for the musicals this year! The audience was with them the whole time and at the end a very well-deserved standing o took place. Really exciting work by these two expert comic performers. (and dramatic! No matter how out there this premise is, Lauren and Brendan committed wholeheartedly to even the most dramatic parts…which is the best form of comedy). My favorite song was the three year old number!
