My overall impression
THIS is the perfect fringe show. Our host, Lance, aka “The Artist Formerly Known As Lance Jonathan”, is a one-man musical force for comic goodness. Armed with a dream, fifteen years experience in cruise ship entertainment, and the energy of a force five hurricane, Lance was determined to give us the BEST late night chat show ever seen… and when Lance announced that he was going to interview Hugh Jackman, Liza Minelli, and the Miami Sound Machine, we KNEW we were in for smooth sailing.
Lance’s guests were intriguing, honest, and made the audience feel like they were in on the jokes. The show was not made up entirely of interviews, mind you. There was singing and dancing and acting galore! I don’t want to give anything away, but Lance’s one man presentation of “The Sound of Music” was genius and not to be missed.
It’s great to see a performer with such energy and determination in his natural habitat; the stage. My only complaint about the show, was that Lance had to rush off and leave us wanting more! It is comforting to know that Lance will be headed to a port near you and that you, too will have a chance to be part of his audience as he follows his dream and maybe even inspires you to follow yours!
