It’s no exaggeration to say that watching John Grady onstage is witnessing poetry in motion. He’s honed his storytelling skills through years of experience on ‘The Moth’ and numerous solo performances. The stories in this show, which are connected to themes of loss, memory, and sense of self, are sharp, thoughtful, instantly relatable, and laugh-out-loud funny. There’s the added treat of watching John tap into his background as a professional dancer and unleash an awe-inspiring, wordless symphony in the show’s climactic moments.
What I didn't like
There was honestly nothing I didn’t like. It does feel like it ends too soon, but I think that’s part of the beauty of it. There’s a theme here of yearning for more time to share stories with the people we love.
My overall impression
John is a master of storytelling, dance, and movement, and he’s in his element in this show. You’ll be hard pressed to find another solo show of this caliber at the fringe festival – or anywhere else.
