My overall impression

The review of “Inside the Mind of Me” has taken me longer than expected to write. It is hard to express how much I love this show. I want to write something objectively, but since I know the creator and did a staged reading of the show over a year ago my review will be subjective. I have been a long time fan of Wade Wilson. I loved every word of this show when I read the script for the first time so long ago. To see the completed transformation and all of the characters come to life was truly a privilege. “Inside the Mind of Me” takes place when he is in the hospital and “Me” starts a journey of self-discovery. Wade Wilson’s script marries reality with fantasy to question the meaning of life. Me has to revisit his past to determine his future. Michael Marcel played the title role of Me to perfection. Me experiences a roller coaster of emotion and temptation. Michael Marcel genuinely committed as an actor to explore the nuances of the role. Brooke Maroon was another standout for me as the young Jessica. Jessica is the dream girl for Me and Brooke was so stunning and kind it gave you empathy for Me’s angst about losing her. The cast overall fit their roles very well. The technical aspects were stellar as well. The addition of multimedia elements was amazing; I loved seeing through Me’s eyes. Subtle changes to the set guided the audience when a scene changed. However, none of the elements could have worked in perfect harmony without brilliant direction. Wade Wilson’s direction illustrated a clear and precise vision. He has been working on this show for a long time and the Hollywood Fringe was a perfect stage for his full-bodied completed work.
