I was excited to see Leigh's show because I've enjoyed talking to her at many of the Fringe events. She's poised and friendly and thoughtful. I was so moved by her very personal story. I felt like I was being let in on a secret. This is a story that needs to be told. There is a stigma for women of a certain age who don't have children or who have a certain ambivalence about having children and Leigh is opening up a dialogue about the complex emotions surrounding this issue. Wow, Leigh really blew me away. I've known her pretty much my entire conscious life and really didn't know the depths of what has shaped her, the person she has become, and the passion she's pursued in life. Why Water Falls was raw, vulnerable, authentic, and moving. Brene Brown would have given this piece 5 stars for real whole-heartedness and true vulnerability. Through sharing her brokenness and woundedness, it actually helped to strengthen and create connection rather that set her apart. We were a few minutes late, so I missed the explicit set-up, but I understood that the writer , played by Leigh Curran, had been assigned the creation of a "personal piece"...something about Integration, in the Jungian and not the Selma sense. The occasion that was calling forth the writing of this piece was, I believe, the author's /character's imminent retirement from the Virginia Avenue Project, which she founded and led for twenty-two years. Ms Curran explores the journey...the "lost babies" we all mourn as we make choices in a life. this particular walk though, is set in a time, in the early and mid 1970's, when so many American women were trying to understand how to have a life that did not mirror their own mother's frustrated caree... full review

I will be totally honest, I went to see this show out of curiosity and to support the fact that a woman in her 70s was going to be on stage, telling her story. This is not something that, in our society, we get to see very often. I knew nothing about the actual story line, but I knew I wanted to see it and I was far from disappointed. Leigh did an incredible job of holding space on stage for 80 minutes with multiple characters, a beautiful story and unwavering honesty. I highly recommend this show!... full review

Leigh did an amazing job acting out parts of her life combining both facts and fiction. It is hard not to be touched by this amazing woman's struggles. Also, to be able to act out one's life if incredible in and of itself. This was a terrific show that brought me both laughter and tears. ... full review
