About the best, most concise, thing I can say about this show is: I laughed until there were tears. Actual tears. Brilliantly written, directed, acted. You don't want to miss this one.... full review

From "lights: up" the laughs start rolling with little reprieve during this hour-long send up of self-indulgent artistic excess. Playwright/actor Jim Hanna has distilled the soul-baring one-man show down to its essence and drunk deep of the refined liquor to find the answer to the question: "Are we making art or are we just jerking off?" Setting the scene within the framework of an arts competition kicks the pretentiousness into overdrive as each performer tries to out-do each other's misery on the road to self-discovery. There's not much to criticize here except maybe some instances of timing. A minor quibble, but a few punchlines were lost amidst the laughter. However, as this was a preview and their first time in front of an audi... full review

The best Fringe show I have ever seen and one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, period. It takes an 'Emperor Has No Clothes' approach to the ponderous and pretentious nature of theater that equates death, disease, addiction and abuse with insight and rips every sacred cow a new one. This show is deeply silly and so are the characters. Every single performance is hilarious and incisive. Every damn one. I loved this show.... full review

The 7th Annual One-Man Show World Championship preview had the audience belly laugh with delight at its send up of everything that can go wrong with one person pitted against the other to see who is more damaged. Dan Tooner as the defending champion was hilariously pompous and indulgent. Tamara Davis and Sarah Chaney were both quirky and a lesson to be nice to your tech crew. Jim Hanna brings it all home with a wonderful delivery that is as dry as toast and timing of a true champion. Go see this!! ... full review

This is one hilarious lampoon of a Fringe staple. I was laughing so hard I had a coughing fit. Darin Tooner and Jim Hanna led an absolutely hilarious cast in lovingly skewering the one-man show. I could fill two reviews with all the things I thought were so great about this show, but I don't want to spoil anything accidentally. Do yourself a favor. Go see this show while you can still get tickets.... full review

I LAUGHED ! I CRIED ! Actually that's a lie, I didn't cry once. And that's a good thing, because when you are parodying sob stories the last thing you want is someone to sob. The wit of the show along with the humor with which the actors approach their characters make it one not to be missed!!!... full review

Jim Hanna's spirited take-down of solo shows is the perfect antidote to any Fringe binge of this notoriously self-absorbed genre. In 7th Annual, four regional finalists must compete to be named the best in the "tourney of the journeys." The show highlights all the earmarks of a bad solo show and makes them requirements for entering the competition: Shows face disqualification if they do not contain a spiritual and geographical journey and struggles with sex, amongst other increasingly specific and amusing cliches that I will not spoil here. The show opens with a bang... Please read the rest of the review at Cinesnatch... full review
