Bye Bye Bombay is a multimedia adventure featuring music, puppets, slide shows, and characters (all played by Cara Yeates) ranging from a young girl seeking to connect with her mother through her mother's Bollywood film past to Bollywood producers, shop owners and those in between. The story and performance beautifully touch upon a full range of personal and societal issues such as alienation and feelings of personal powerlessness but ultimately it teaches us the power of compassion and inter-connectivity. Cara took me on a trip to a world I know very little about and she wowed me! She dances and weaves in and out of images that have peirced my brain forever! This is a wonderful journey in the Mysterious Land of Silk and Spice-- Bombay, India. It's a gripping story of a teenage runaway trying to run from her past and reconcile with her mother, but is taught something about the world by her experiences.
