My overall impression

I’ve been a Lost Moon Radio fanboy since I first heard “Whites Only Fountain” with Ben Hill from the light booth at The Theatre of the Arts Arena Stage at the inaugural Fringe Festival in 2010, and I’ve made an effort to see every LMR show I can since then. Million Dollar Hair departs from the crew’s usual format, but this incarnation provides a bevy of new, eccentric and fun characters for the Lost Moon universe, as well as bringing back a few old favorites.

Lauren Flans once again demonstrates why she is not only one of the hottest undiscovered rappers in the game today, but a comic genius as well. Her song, “Babies Havin’ Babies” is perhaps one of the most brilliant pieces of musical sketch I’ve seen. Right in the vein of Chaplain, Steve Martin and Kyle Gass. As a real-life Parrothead myself, I have a soft spot in my heart for Ryan Harrison’s lockjaw-suffering Jimmy Buffet knockoff. New member Megan Rose Greene stands out with both of her Canadian crooners. However, my favorite number of the night, though, had to be January Schonfeld (Leslie Korein)‘s “Philosophal.” I’m still giggling at the lyrics.

Don’t miss it.
