"The Mermaid Who Learned How to Fly"

My overall impression

Kyla Garcia’s exuberence and energy palpably fill the space in this one woman show about a young woman coming of age in love. Through fairy godmother plot devices, dance, and structured scenes, she takes us through the late teens and early twenties of a woman’s navigation through high school and college, the two great loves of her young life, and the writing that holds her together. What the piece lacks in structure and production is made up for in enthusiasm, for it is the actress herself that we are charmed by.
