I have been a fan of the musical and movie Best Little Whorehouse in Texas all my life, and have been lucky enough to see both. Although I never saw the Broadway play, I did see a rousing production of it in Palm Springs a few years ago. As for the movie, I have seen it a multitude of times and have the DVD and soundtrack. To get the chance to see a show about the writer of this wonderful musical and to learn about the back story was a dream come true. See the rest of the review at Examiner.com. ... full review

Is it to trite to say that I laughed, I cried, I was moved? This show had the universality to give me new understandings of Susannah and of myself. I want to take some of her mother’s and her songs to people I love. ... full review

Super cool venue, great music, and a riveting story. Although I was familiar with some of the music (written by Susannah's mother, Carol Hall), I loved hearing it against the backdrop of the dynamic family history that Susannah conveys so beautifully with her storytelling. Listening to Susannah sing her own songs was a treat as well, especially after getting some insight into her upbringing; she does a wonderful job of connecting with the audience throughout the show. And I have to acknowledge the band as well. Three very talented musicians provided the soundtrack to the show, as well as a little humor. Fantastic show!... full review

"Daughter Of" is an honest , heartfelt and enjoyable look through the keyhole of a world most of us are not privy to...the inside world of Broadway! This personal tale of life lived under the filter of a famous parent is both funny and moving . Through marvelous music and amusing antidotes , Susannah Blinkoff takes us backstage and into what It was like to grow up in that ratified air, exploring both the positive and negative effects such a life can bring. An accomplished song writer herself, Blinkoff blends the music of mom Carol Hall, with her own contemporary songs, and creates a beautifully crafted smorgasbord of rich emotions. Accompanied by her marvelous three piece ensemble , and well directed by Stan Zimmerman, this Is a show... full review

Really well done show. Very grounded and accessible because it is essentially about someone coming into her own. Band is great and director did a very good job weaving all the elements together. Moves very quickly.... full review
