My overall impression

I am still crying from this show! June Carryl has given one of the single most powerful performances and pieces of writing that I have seen at this year’s Hollywood fringe Festival, hands down. How Writing is layered and sophisticated but bursting with honesty. June is a wordsmith interlacing bold cultural ideas and profound inner conflicts with her fine needle of immaculate dialogue and colorful spectrum of poetic observations. As a performer, not only does she demonstrate full mastery of her character who is not some cliché but some three-dimensional statue she’s chiseled but the show culminates so beautifully with a level of hearts that one rarely sees. June knows the power of writing and acting from the heart and this turns her show into a human miracle.

As I told June after, she is a Broadway-sized talent peddling her all-too humble wares in the Hollywood fringe Festival. I was absolutely horrified that the audience was so small today – I have seen shows with far less worthy selling out every performance. Absurd! So I’m getting the word out, and if you come to La Bête, I guarantee you will never forget or regret the experience. June raises the bar for all of us this year.
