My overall impression
Lockout presented the revolutionary working class struggle in turn of the century Ireland in an enchanting storytelling style. Relying heavily on the lead, Bridgette Campbell, the show, which comprises of several long monologues could have easily felt too long, but Bridgette’s delivery made the weight of the show feel tangible and real, even a century removed from the subject matter. The show gently breaks the fourth wall, by talking to the audience directly, creating intimacy and an empathy to the character’s struggles.
