My overall impression
Watching this show is proof that there are no small parts in theatre. Even though the title highlights two of Shakepeare’s most prominent characters, every cast member contributed a memorable, hilarious element to this show. One actress in particular filled the stage every time she was on it, and made you wish she’d return soon after she exited. Two words: Tamara Rhoads. Tamara never let a moment go empty; even if she wasn’t speaking, she was in character the entire time, filling the stage with her presence and filling each moment with a nuanced look or devious smirk. Her smile is so warm and welcoming, she couldn’t help but steal the show simply by appearing onstage. Even when she wasn’t saying much, she was speaking volumes. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great ensemble, and the references to Shakespeare and other great artists of the past had me giggling and laughing out loud. What a wonderful tribute to a memorable part of my past (and pretty much every theatre scholar you’ll meet). You deserve a treat: go to see this show before it’s too late!!!
