My overall impression

“Why is a raven like a writing desk?” No one really knows, including myself. ‘Ravens and Writing Desks’ is a piece of genius inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.”

The play contains key characters that will be familiar to anyone that is used to Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” such as: the March Hare, the Mad Hatter , the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts and special appearances by Peter Pan and others from Neverland.

If you walk in and out of this play confused or feeling like you missed something then that is the point. You’re in Wonderland and the place isn’t supposed to make sense or even use normal logic and reason from the world that we have grown accustomed to.

There isn’t a lot of heavy dialogue as it is a movement piece. There is a lot going on everywhere on the stage which keeps each scene very interesting. Viewing the very subtle Dormouse tumbling around the back of the stage, while in a drunken stupor, was quite entertaining.

All in all I really enjoyed this Adult themed adventure of Alice ’s coming of age with her new friends. I will definitely be seeing it again.
