Thomas wakes up on an empty beach. A voice in the darkness calls to him, and Death walks out of the shadows. Death reveals the true state of Thomas, and they go on the boat to cross the nearby river to the other side. Along the way, they play Hearts and discuss topics such as how life is continuing without Tom, his separation from his wife, and speculation on what lies beyond.
