About the Project
Tom Ayers started stand-up at 18 in the middle of New York City’s 1980s comedy boom, performing regularly at legendary clubs like Dangerfield’s, The Improv, The Comic Strip, and The Comedy Cellar. He went on to tour nationally for nearly a decade, working alongside a generation of comics who would later become household names, and later built a successful career as an actor in Los Angeles.
Then life took an unexpected turn.
Act Normal is a hilarious and deeply personal solo show that weaves together stories from the road, the early days of stand-up, and the moments that force you to start over. It’s a look at comedy, survival, and what it really means to keep going when life doesn’t go the way you planned.
