Tom Ayers started stand-up at 18 in the middle of New York City’s 1980s comedy boom, performing regularly at legendary clubs like Dangerfield’s, The Improv, The Comic Strip, and The Comedy Cellar. He went on to tour nationally for nearly a decade, working alongside a generation of comics who would later become household names, and later built a successful career as an actor in Los Angeles.
Then life took an unexpected turn.
