This was a spirited and tuneful show - and an important one, teaching us about epilepsy in a way that was informative but never pandering. Very well-written....

Abby Normal is all love... Rarely have I walked into a show and immediately felt the heart pulse, empathy and determined will that went into storytelling, in this case, "Abby's" story. Rachel Kellum who plays Abby is such a delight. She has a beautiful singing voice and I never once doubted that she was authentically navigating the challenges of epilepsy. By having epilepsy as a character (brilliantly played by Amir Levi) helped us not only understand the disorder more, it gave us a chance to laugh at times and then get hit hard with reality. Sandra Cruze weaves a beautiful love letter of storytelling to her granddaughter and all of us!...

I found myself grasping my hands and heart as we moved through the musical! It was a beautiful portrayal of love, perseverance and growing up with challenges, specifically of the medical challenges of epilepsy. This disease needs more exposure and funding for scientific research. I'm grateful Sandra Cruze took a chance and produced this incredible artistic, entertaining and informative production. ...

A uniquely moving story. On every level, "Abby Normal" is the theatrical embodiment of ‘character being forged not by the circumstances of what happens to you, but rather through what you choose to do with those experiences.’
“Abby Normal” was born out of Sandra Cruze’s family’s real life experience with epilepsy. Through it, she alchemizes her family’s pain, frustration, disappointments, fears, challenges, and longings - wrapping them up in pure love, passion and perseverance, infusing their story with whimsy and imagination, and singing and dancing!, and comes out the other side with characters that are defined by all the ways they transcend the story they’ve been given - characters we can’t help but fall in love with, characters that ...

I was captivated from the moment Abby Normal: The Musical began. The way epilepsy and “seizure” were introduced was incredibly clever, thoughtful, and effective. Throughout the performance, I laughed, cried, and was deeply moved by every actor on stage.
The music and lyrics were beautifully written and perfectly aligned with the story, making the message both powerful and memorable. Not only was the production highly entertaining, but it also taught me a great deal about epilepsy and the challenges faced by those living with it.
I was especially honored to meet Lucia, the inspiration behind this remarkable story. This is a musical that deserves a nationwide audience. I would love to see it performed at the high school level, where it c...
