Review by CAROL M. BECKER

What I liked

To take real life artists, like Claes Oldenburg and put him on a mission to gain inspiration from the likes of Michelangelo and Yayoi Kusama was so clever (and funny). It allowed for some catchy tunes and interaction.

Multi-hyphenate Chris Gale not only sings throughout the show, but he also plays a mean keyboard. Presuming that the entire concept is his brain-child, I stand in awe.

Additionally, I adored the casting of Molly Balloons in the role of antagonist, Jeff Coons. Poor Toto didn’t sign up to live with a crazy man!

What I didn't like

This show is truly a diamond in the rough and I have a few suggestions as this musical continues to develop:

1) Transitions took up a good of time, so to help smooth them out, consider a larger stage and more stage crew

2) At times, the blocking was rough and could use some more finesse

3) As much as I loved the concept, what would the show be like with people who have a background in musical theatre and/or singing?

My overall impression

Enormous Things: The Musical takes innovation, ambition, and creativity and breaks the dial off! For those looking for a definitive “Fringe-y” show, look no further. I am not sure how the worlds of Chris Gale, Danthony Gerbarg, and Ellie Diberardino joined forces, but the result of their efforts, along with the cast and other crew members is sure to leave a smile on your face as it did mine.

And OMG, all of the large scale, colorful cardboard work that is on display will simply AMAZE you. How much time did that take, Rianna Macmillan? Your GENIUS is on another level!
