About the Project

In a duet of solo shows by two new theatrical voices, alumni of the Professional Actor Training program in the Theatre Academy, Department of Theater Arts, at Los Angeles City College, two actors tackle the ramifications of life’s abstruse absurdities and traumatic transitions. Adam Lopatka is sharing his new work, “Acne Scars” and April E is debuting her piece, “I am the Mountain People.”

“Acne Scars” is one man’s quest to clear his pizza face once and for all. But with bigger fish to fry like juggling the stresses of Bible college with a sexual identity crisis, it just seems impossible. A story of faith, friendship, and finding acceptance for yourself just the way you are.

“I am the Mountain People” takes the audience on a journey with a young girl who uses imaginary friends to cope with child abuse and navigating life through foster care.
