What I liked

I found myself beaming for the entire hour as the room as absolutely delighted by this “couplet.” An absolute showcase of comedy, music and stage talent. Especially in the context of Fringe, this is a palate cleanser that a little heart and melody goes a long, long way.

What I didn't like

The show consistently flirts with the notion of mortality in a relationship/marriage. We are aware the performers are concerned by this, and there is a beautiful show stopping number about this, but it never risks putting us, the audience, in this same existential anxiety. Based on the recurring game in the show and themes of sex, marriage, and death – there may be an opportunity to add one more storytelling anecdote where Micah does, in fact, become quite ill (either beyond an exploding butt or stepping a beat deeper into the severity of this medical episode / or perhaps let Micah’s journey of the show be that he admits his own fears about losing Marnina someday) so we momentarily sit inside Marnina’s reasonable fear, not as a silly catastrophizing, but an honest reflection of our shared struggle as humans who choose to “folk” and relate to those we love.

My overall impression

Absolutely charming!
