Both performers, in addition to being wonderful accompanists with great voices, are also just really interesting people. Their chemistry, facial expressions, improvisation and audience quipping were all really excellent. There are a lot of shows that you go to where you find yourself liking and rooting for the performers in spite of awkwardness. Those shows are usually fun too. But this one was unique in that you sort of forget you’re watching a show, and never doubt that they have it under control. They’re comfortable with eachother and are so good at being themselves.
I loved the “Once a week” waltz and the minor key song about their therapist.
What I didn't like
honestly nothing. It felt complete and it worked beautifully. I’d be afraid to change anything
My overall impression
A delightful cabaret full of good jokes, pretty melodies, delicious strings and finger picked guitar. Earnest and big hearted. If you like Flight of the Concords, fleet foxes, Once you’ll love this. The self conscious Millennial banter brought to mind Broad City and early 2000s indie films. Thoroughly enjoyable.
