"Somos Aire" is a beautiful production filled with emotional truths, imaginative staging, memorable characters and a light whimsy. I loved how "Somos Aire" was more than just one way of storytelling. From puppets to clever props, from creative lighting to awesome character work, each moment felt electric. A wonderful piece of theatre built with a well written story. SOMOS AIRE is an ambitious production with heartfelt intentions, and I recognize how difficult it is to develop and stage original work. However, in its current form, the piece feels underdeveloped and not yet ready for a major festival platform. If the intended audience is young children, the production may find a more receptive audience in children’s theater. For adult audiences, however, the storytelling struggled to connect. The plot contained significant gaps that made it difficult to follow, and the dialogue often felt amateurish and unclear, preventing the emotional stakes from landing effectively. This is a love-letter to San Ysidro and its residents, as well as a warning about the challenges faced by those who face the side-effects of an increasingly polluted world by those and don't have the access to large tax-bases or tons of media attention.... full review

This was beyond extremely immersive! The acting felt warm, almost like someone was telling me a bedside story. All the actors, costumes and their set design were so well put together, and you can obviously tell the amount of effort put behind this play. I laughed, I cried, I laughed then cried again. A funny, yet meaningful perspective on a real issue and denial. Often family members are the last to accept an issue, the character's acceptance is then used to help find a solution in a fun, beautiful way. Wow! What a story. A great portrayal of family life on the edge of society. The Single Mom’s struggle to support her family of 2 teen daughters depicts the issues of environmental issues, cultural beliefs, social stereotypes, and the international relationship with Mexico.
