Herman makes two bold choices as a writer, both of which are excellent and pay off in spades. One is the appearance of another character — one of the few people who could understand what Smith is going through — and the 2nd is what that character actually wants and what results from that (Herman does great physical comedy as a direct result.) What I didn't like
I agree with the consensus that I’d love to see a longer version of this show, but Herman packs a lot into the 20+ minutes, taking us on a full journey. If she ends up developing and expanding this further (fingers crossed!), there’s probably room to add a 3rd character.
That’s it. It’s really well done!
My overall impression
Absolutely delightful. The show is currently just under 25 minutes, but those are jam-packed with entertainment and emotion; it’s 100% worth it. Actress/writer Alli Herman brings profound empathy to Anna Nicole Smith, a figure most of us knew very little about, and who was frequently mocked by the tabloids. This show is never maudlin; Herman finds the humor and heart and zeroes in on it.
