Sam Ditto is so much freaking fun! She compares herself to Barbie, going from job to job to job, but with a hilarious focus on the part Barbie doesn’t delve into. The reassuring calls to parents, the anxiety over bills, the depression. But with songs! And funny bits! And impressively-quick costume changes! Ditto never beats you over the head with the themes, but they still hit hard. It’ll resonate with anyone who’s wanted to be more than what they’re told they can be. There’s a beautiful truth to it in that while all these jobs are telling Ditto that she’s not good enough or not funny enough or whatever, she is proving all of them wrong in the moment with every second that passes in this delightful solo show.
What I didn't like
Something sounded a little off on the songs? Not sure if it’s a volume or rehearsal issue, but pretty minor nonetheless.
My overall impression
High-energy, wildly fun romp through the horrors of whatever stage of capitalism we are currently in!
