The chess, the trophies, the t shirts – excellent use of prop and physical comedy. Loved the intimate staging in the Broadwater studio — the house was packed.
What I didn't like
I would love to see even more comedy squeezed into the hour! Because the nature of the topic has a silliness to it, this show was at its strongest when it was full-force comedic.
My overall impression
“Only Child Syndrome” was an exciting theatrical experience eagerly attended by a rapt audience that writer/director/star Jay kept engaged and even cheering for the entire hour. This show tackles the universal question of what one should make of one’s birth order (or more specifically, one’s only-child status) on a hilarious, endearing personal scale. The show’s interactive audience involvement was delightfully fun and engaging.
