The ensemble is tremendous handling some very tricky material that’s really never be seen or done. Brittany Pirozzoli has a deft command of the stage whenever she’s on echoing the divas of soap opera’s past. Funny, dramatic, and always committed. Dana DeRuyck and Julia Manis also bring a hilarious, manic energy to the bumbling assassins that makes me want to see a show just with those characters.
What I didn't like
It’d be fun to see it really lean into the absurd soap opera of it all. Maybe even go absurd with a capital A. But that’s just an outside take.
My overall impression
The Porters dive back into obscure, Shakespeare-adjacent material with this hilarious, absurd soap opera. Strong performances and off-the-wall comedy carry this piece as we realize we’ll probably never see this play again.
