In her new solo performance “The Do Over,” Rachel moves between the relatably hilarious, the deeply moving, and the intimately personal. She delivers magic and music and tears and laughter in equal doses — all in a tight, well-paced 45-minute package. It’s the kind of show that balances on a knife’s edge… right in that sacred space between comedy and tragedy… between life-affirming hope and devastating grief. I loved it!
What I didn't like
Crank up the volume for those musical numbers! :)
My overall impression
I remember hearing that any story can be put into one of two categories: it’s either a story about love or a story about death. Rachel has pulled off something incredible by creating a show that encompasses both.
At its heart, “The Do Over” is about grief as an act of courage — a cathartic and deeply felt expression of the love we still carry for those who have passed.
I strongly recommend that people check it out at this year’s Fringe Festival. I will be recommending it to all my friends.
