Performance was wonderful and the tech crew were on the money. It was simultaneously professional and magical. Rachel is super talented as an actor and producer. And her director Shane and crew were a joy to meet and watch.
What I didn't like
10/10 would recommend!
My overall impression
The Do Over is an impressive display of human expression in the extremes. Death seems to have that effect. The show begins with Rachel in pure bliss. A morning with “no puffies”, twerking, and money cash flow in reward of that twerking. (Heaven, right?)
But then reality sets in. And over the course of the next 35 minutes, the audience participates and witnesses the re-imagined events of her mother’s final day. Rachel performs everything from singing, spreadsheets and interacting with magical furniture, to cosmic visual queues that bring laughter and tears. Between Rachel’s acting capabilities and the tech/stage performance, I don’t know which aspect impressed me most. It really felt like a mini Broadway show!
I hope Rachel’s goal of “having a do-over” was accomplished. As a member of the dead parents club myself, I laughed hard and cried harder. So when you go, do NOT be like me and forget to bring the tissues.
