I really liked it and thought it was very informative. It brought a lot of facts to my attention and I felt that Brian put his all into it. I liked the variety of characters and how the transitions from one to the other flowed naturally. I also liked some of the quoted references from Full Metal Jacket and Charlie Chaplin. Overall, I feel it was a great performance and I was not only entertained, but left with some things to really think about. ... full review

Brian Allman's performance was both entertaining and completely sincere. What a powerful message. Every red blooded American should see this show. I left this performance really thinking about what I had just saw. Fantastic show, Brian! Well done. ... full review

When I first heard about Message from a Dying Soldier I was expecting a darkly dramatic war piece and was concerned it wouldn't be a show for me. I came out mostly to support Brian Allman, who I've seen in several other local productions and always enjoy. And I'm so glad I did! Allman puts on a variety act performance with non stop entertainment and thought provoking material. He creates a solid balance between serious political critique and comedic slapstick. His theatrical skills are put to the test as he plays multiple characters in a wide range of styles sure to entertain all who see it!... full review

What a marvelous balance of politicizing and goofy entertainment. To say nothing of Brian's magnetic presence as an actor. Made me think, made me laugh, made me worry, made me angry (for the right reasons). I hope plenty of unconverted viewers will see this.... full review

http://wemakemovies.org/?p=9607 A Message From a Dying Soldier by Brian Allman is a compelling piece influenced by a letter written from Tomas Young on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq war. Brian Allman is known around town as being an improviser. He has been active with Comedy Sports for years and even though he has an MFA form UCLA I still think of him as being the funny guy. So I was very much looking forward to seeing a one-man show about a war victim and what he would do with it. I was delightfully impressed. As you enter Brian is in character and greeting the audience and engaging with them. When the show begins he breaks the themes of the letter up into different scenes and characters. Each character having a compelling story... full review

Well performed and conceived, this show was a gleaming example of political satire. Brian's characters were lively and colorful, and would have no problem "owning" a segment on the Daily Show. Thoroughly enjoyed the show, and if/when he puts this piece up again, don't worry about being hit over the head with political jargon and Brian shoving his views down your throat, there's too much hope and comedy injected throughout to notice if he does. ... full review
