An exploration into man’s subconscious fear of procreation hasn’t been this unhinged and extrapolated since Eraserhead. Bach would leave a good review for this show. ... full review

Like being in The Black Lodge from Twin Peaks if The Black Lodge was a Cello Masterclass. Big Maestro really feels like a David Lynch character. This is clown that breathes in its simplicity and specificity and I was bought in from the first moment. The world building is a success and the premise is so strong as a container for these characters, this story. ... full review

This was a masterclass in genius cello training and a rollercoaster of emotions that I would recommend with both thumbs.... full review

The show is wonderfully unhinged in the best possible way. Such a funny, chaotic show that had us laughing the whole time. It’s weird in all the right ways, super creative, and the performances were fantastic. You never really know what’s coming next, which made it even more fun.... full review

It was so inspiring to see clown paired with live cello as a great example of ways to play with contrasting styles. The performers had a great rapport so that even when the Big Maestro seemed to be pushing the Little Cello Boy (and his body) beyond his limits, we as the audience always trusted both of them to be in total synch with each other.... full review

"Big Maestro & Little Cello Boy" is a sublime laugh-riot of absurdist proportions. Like Eugene lonesco's "The Lesson" set in an S&M club on acid, Alex Derderian and Peter Levine's crazed, atmospheric dreamscape, is a masterful buffet of dynamic variation from beginning to end. As a long-time fan of the cello to begin with, Levine actually plays very good. Scratch that, he plays GREAT! Brilliantly directed by Dean Evans. If absurdist clown shows are your thing, and why wouldn't they be, do not miss this!... full review

This show was real performance art. It was Avant-garde. It was FUNNY, it was bold, it was clever, and it took risks. I felt very lucky to have gotten to witness two performers excelling at their craft. ... full review

Hilarious. Horrifying in the best way. Alex is hysterical as the Maestro and expertly toes the line between funny and monstrous, you never stop laughing at her performance even though some of it gets really, really dark. Peter is an excellent cellist and an excellent victim to the Maestro's antics. So wildly funny and sick and twisted. ... full review

Sadistic, deranged (no, not talking about Washington, DC), deep dark comedy, performed by two captivating actors. This is hilarious slapstick, sort of The Three Stooges (but we only have two) meets Little Shop of Horrors. Don't miss the master class.... full review
