What I liked

I could watch Spencer Weitzel fall apart on stage every Fringe, he dances so wonderfully on the edge of a mental breakdown, oscillating between pure panic and emotional epiphanies. Loved that the show was delightfully meta and how our audience warmly received references to Fringe and early development of creative projects and solo shows. Excellent use of sound design in transitions.

My overall impression

A powerful, cathartic look at facing your worst enemy – yourself. Using an ever-present roommate to represent the insecurities and negative thoughts that hold us back, Angst personifies our deafening inner voices of self-doubt. Deftly directed by Casey Buxton-Dean and expertly handled in the hands of Spencer Weitzel, this show is an emotionally raw, painfully relatable experience of facing your demons during the creative process and what, if anything, is left of you when they’re gone.
