The acting is exceptional. Both performers fully inhabit their characters, creating a relationship that feels authentic, complicated, and deeply human. The chemistry between them is terrific, and they bring both humor and emotional depth to every scene. Nanci Kelham and Eric Toms deserve to be noticed and cast in many more productions on screen and stage!
The writing is sharp, insightful, and incredibly relevant.
The direction deserves special mention as well. The pacing is excellent, the transitions are seamless, and every moment feels intentional. It’s a beautifully balanced production that knows exactly when to lean into the comedy and when to let the emotional moments breathe.
What I didn't like
They deserve full houses.
My overall impression
I saw My Dad’s Kid at Hollywood Fringe and was completely drawn in from start to finish. It’s one of those shows that manages to be genuinely funny while also hitting on themes that feel very real and relatable.
This is exactly the kind of show I hope to find at Fringe—smart, funny, moving, and performed at a very high level. I left the theater still thinking about it. If you’re looking for something to see at Hollywood Fringe, put My Dad’s Kid at the top of your list.
