There seemed to be a few unexpected production mishaps during my show such as her dress getting caught on a door and another door that kept swinging open after it was slammed shut, but Jackie handled them so well in the moment that they were almost making me laugh harder than all the other craziness that was going on around her. Honestly, I’d recommend keeping the door swinging open as a recurring bit because it was such a cartoonishly silly sight to see in the middle of a very nightmarish performance!
What I didn't like
nothin!!!!
My overall impression
So friggin funny AND unsettling at the same dang time!!! Jackie masterfully balances what could be very conflicting tones and creates a clown show that’ll make you jump in terror as much as you laugh out loud. From the moment, we walked into the theater, I felt transported to a claustrophobic and gothic setting thanks to the Skiptown red curtain that seemed inches away from the front row. As mysterious gloved hands poked out of the curtain to start the show by getting the entire audience to start counting down but then randomly counting all over the place, I knew we were in “good hands.” Jackie is such a magnetic performer to watch that even when I wanted to look away in shock, I couldn’t help watching her push deeper and deeper into this absurd nightmare. Also, whatever accent she used was delightful to listen to and had me giggling sometimes at just the way she would pronounce certain words.
