Waldner is an extremely engaging, endearing, self-deprecating, and intelligent performer. He absolutely commands the stage and audience attention. We were hanging on his every word. Waldner’s stage persona draws you in and almost puts the audience in the role of his therapist for most of the show. I certainly found myself rooting for him as he explored his sexuality and development. He proves that you don’t need big flashy lights or complicated sound cues and spectacle to tell a great story.
What I didn't like
Maybe some trimming of the script to improve pacing or focus? No glaring issues, that’s for sure. I’m not sure the title/marketing fits the content/tone.
My overall impression
With a bare set and the suggestion of costumes, Spencer Waldner creates a whole world, guiding us through some therapy sessions interspersed with more current commentary.
