Benjamin J Young is a phenomenal actor, literally transforming right before your eyes. His range is on full display. By far the best performance I’ve seen at this year’s Fringe. Nicole Ohara goes on a wild character arc yet remains grounded every step of the way. There were so many lines I wanted to hear repeated again and again because the writing is incisive and precise. Everything on the set was intentional and utilized in a way that was ultimately satisfying. I appreciate how much care and intention was put into every moment of the play.
What I didn't like
There are some genuinely jarring moments in this play; I’d love to see a more fully realized production that pushes the buttons even further.
My overall impression
This is what you call a PLAY! It’s timeless and unmasks those parts of humanity that are generally buried within. I thoroughly enjoyed the crisp writing delivered by two actors who fully understood the assignment. Barrett DeYoung reminds me of a young Edward Albee. Throughout the twists and turns, I wasn’t quite sure what would happen next, but the end results were deeply satisfying. It was funny and dark; I was on the edge of my seat. I could see theaters across the nation programming this show. It’s also an actor’s DREAM. Kudos!!!
