What I liked

The production design was upscale and elevated.

The blocking was rich and dynamic.

Visually this is a director with a very clear vision.

I had fun and a good time.

What I didn't like

I feel like I came out of the show wishing it was making a clearer statement and arc. I’m not exactly sure whose character this story was.

I also struggled a bit with the tone. The set up, second act and ending is so farcical, and yet the performances were a bit too grounded, making those huge crazy turns a bit uneven and unmotivated for me, a bit too big of a tonal shift. It almost feels like the first two scenes and the rest of the play belong in different films. I wish they had leaned full into farce from the beginning so when things escalate they felt in line with the tone of the world and they didn’t feel so out of nowhere.

My overall impression

The twists and turns of this dark comedy about assisted death in Switzerland were so unexpected, weird, funny.
