Some of the performances were great and most of the performers committed to their characters and the situations they were in. I preferred the first piece, which was more comedic and absurdist, but there were good moments in the second one as well.
What I didn't like
In the second piece, I found the narration to be unnecessary and it interfered with the pacing and overall impression of the play. Even my friend who came with me and knew nothing about Our Town (not a theater person at all) felt it detracted from the play. PLEASE show us, don’t tell us. And calling our attention to the fact that many of the props and actions would be mimed only made it worse when an actor set up a prop in an area only to have another actor walk right through it. Had the miming not been mentioned, I doubt I would have noticed that so much.
My overall impression
I was intrigued by the idea of having two shows set in a graveyard. Would they be scary? Funny? Poignant? How would the plays relate to each other? Would there be ghosts? Nothing was scary, there were some funny moments and a few poignant ones as well.
