I loved McKinnon’s newscaster capturing salient points from the 2016 election of Donald Trump. I liked the artistic risk he took with his audience — I’m going to say this even if you, audience member like Donald Trump. The sex scenes were so powerful in their suggestiveness that I was actually uncomfortable as if I were in the bedroom with them. I admire that power over my imagination. The suicide scene was created in the same style and was all the more emotionally effective for being without words.
What I didn't like
I didn’t notice anything that could be improved. The only thing I notice is that I’m not a fan of the turn between scenes ir characters. I would have preferred a straight walk across the stage from one seat and scene to another. To me, the turns stand out as stagey and distract from the scene itself
My overall impression
I loved McKinnon’s show. He told his story with such vulnerable honesty. I don’t remember another show — certainly not from a man — diving so deeply into the pool of having no value except how your lover assessed you. And coming out a new man on the other side of that. The choreographed sex scenes and frequent newscasts reporting on the 2016 election were startlingly original.
