What I liked
The artist’s word choice coalesced with subject matter and a style of delivery that so clearly conveyed a wild kaleidoscope of feelings and perspectives. He made brilliant use of tension and resolution, genesis to closure to another beginning. The story-telling of the performance was interspersed with profound statements, making me wish I had a pause button to stop and contemplate the poignancy of the ideas he gleaned from grappling with pain. One of the most compelling and engaging shows I’ve ever seen.
What I didn't like
It could have been longer! The performer held my attention from the first, and never let go. It was over before I knew it!
My overall impression
Thought-provoking, articulate, complicated and never giving in to a narrative arcs characterized by facile resolution. Exemplified the reality and tarnished nobility of the struggle of the human condition through a narrative pain, precariousness, tragedy, lament and the diffident hope for redemption and meaning. An illumination of the tenuousness of ever feeling okay.
