At the prestigious Miskatonic University, Polly Simpkins and Gwen Hunter are normal, college girls. Polly is academic, obsessed with research and straight A’s. Gwen is hot and popular and would rather party than study. But their lives are turned upside-down one night when Martha Keller, Gwen’s sorority sister that she never talks to, breaks into their dorm. Her roommate, Lucy, has disappeared under mysterious circumstances and no one seems to care. The only clue she has is The Secrets of Uvhash-Ra, a cursed book that has been in Miskatonic’s library for hundreds of years.
According to legend, whoever reads the book becomes cursed. They hear things, see demons lurking in the shadows, and go mad. Eventually, they disappear, presumably into the book ittself.
Martha is desperate for Polly and Gwen’s help. Because the book appeared on her bedside table not long after Lucy went missing. Martha fears that she is next.
Kate Shaefer (the playwright/Polly Simpkins) is thrilled to bring her vision to life at The Hollywood Fringe Festival for the first time. Inspired by a love for mysteries, dark academia, and the Lovecraft universe, she hopes you enjoy her play. She had a blast writing it while being bed ridden due to a foot surgery.
