Sydney Hollingsworth’s script is so refreshing and packed with so many jokes that it’s impossible to just list a few standouts. The ensemble is a talented group of comedic performers led by Hollingsworth and Gillian Quimby who lean into the absurdity with an earnestness that only a theatre kid can convey. And I won’t spoil the ending, but it doesn’t go where you think it will, and isn’t afraid to go into darker, more emotional places.
What I didn't like
Overall some pacing could be tightened up and maybe streamlining some scenes to cut down on transitions, but that’s a minor thing.
My overall impression
For all my fellow theatre kids, Ren Faire lovers, and Shakespeare folks. This is the show for you. An excellent ensemble, a tight script, and even some vulnerable moments make this tale of struggling comics framed against political scandal an earnest gem of the festival. One of the best surprises I’ve had at Fringe this year.
