I loved the relationships between the characters. They each had their own positives and negatives, though you are drawn in because they are so real. We all want to mean something to somebody and we also want to carry out our passion and in this case, the divers mission. I love Ann as a storyteller. She is so delightful to watch. She’s a pro in every sense of the word.
What I didn't like
There were a couple of tech glitches during the show, but those I’m sure were remedied after preview. Ann handled them with grace and ease and it didn’t detract from the story at all!
My overall impression
Ann Loud is a most likeable character, a joy to watch and listen to. She has a talent for drawing us immediately into her world. The world she is creating. In this story, Ann effortlessly plays 5 unique characters – divers on a submarine submerged in the deepest waters for 200 days to do research. Each with their quirks and neediness and purpose which sometimes clash with each other and sometimes bond others. About halfway through the show, I felt like I had become an investigative reporter, as there is definitely something “fishy” – no pun intended -happening in this claustrophobic chamber. The reveal is shocking and painful and a doozie. Puppetry will help us breathe through the pain..we hope.
