Absolutely phenomenal….the lead actor Joe’s work was incredibly authentic, honest and moving…he plays every character with precision it’s easy to forget it’s a one man show…his acting is raw, emotional and breathtaking…it’s funny and deep and everything in between..run don’t walk this is the best of the fringe! ...

I LOVED this show! Smart! Moving! Surprising! So much more than you think it's going to be. Miss Magnolia will make you wonder if this is the story of a possession, or a deeply personal revelation of the self - or both? From the first moment that Miss Magnolia starts to introduce herself, I was transfixed. What is happening here? Why is she in the body of a gay man vacationing in Provincetown? What ensues is as funny as you'd think (you try hooking up with a debutante watching your every move) but more deep than you'd expect. Hutchinson lays wonderfully hidden Easter eggs throughout the writing, layering the play with subtle meaning that makes you hang on every word. ...

You can file the title under "camp" if you wish, but file Joe Hutcheson's solo show under "exquisite." Hutcheson has arrived from New York City with a performance that is charming, very funny, and very personal. What sets this piece apart is the stellar writing. Armed only with a folding fan and a magical script that is loaded with tangible imagery, Southern charm, and cheap wine, Hutcheson delivers a story that you will not soon forget. With no projections and no trickery, Hutcheson's delightfully original story and solid performance stand as one of the best solo pieces of the year. Thank you for bringing your words, and thank you for bringing us along on the journey....

I could have sat and escaped with Miss Beaumont and Master Joseph for hours more. It was charming, moving and hilarious. The writing is fantastic, the acting so much more. I was truly transported and I wish we could all have a debutante inside us at poignant points of our lives. Must see. ...

Laugh-out-loud funny
Miss Magnolia is masterful piece of theater that manages to be hilarious, heartbreaking and deeply human all at once. The writing is sharp, funny, and surprisingly profound. The play moves effortlessly between comedy and vulnerability, finding humor and unexpected places while never losing sight of the pain beneath the laughter. Miss Magnolia herself is a brilliant creation: charming, witty, stubborn, and ultimately, compassionate. Bravo, Mr. Hutcheson....
