What I liked
Top-notch performances across the board. This ensemble owns the absurdity of the piece with great comedic timing and vulnerability. I won’t spoil it, but there’s a creature effect in a door which was one of my favorite things I’ve seen.
What I didn't like
The storyline can be challenging at times balancing some very sensitive material with comedy, but I do think it succeeds for the most part. Still, be advised if the content warnings give you pause.
My overall impression
The Fisherman’s Wife is a fascinating, strange story anchored by a strong cast and direction. A definite must-see for dark comedy fans and sea creature aficionados.
