The chorus and overall whimsy of the music written for the children is fun and sucks you into being a seven year old quite effectively. The addition of the mother and her story line also helps to tie the story back to reality and provide the emotional depth to Jeremy’s struggle that helps us understand the intensity of Jeremy’s anxiety.
What I didn't like
The story moves at such a brisk pace, I would love to see even more material to give us time with our main children’s relationship to be built up over multiple days and have Jeremy overcome his fear’s gradually. There are times where being caught up in the whirlwind of the show meant the material became confusing and took a second to succumb again to the whimsy.
My overall impression
This show puts you inside the mind of a seven year old, allowing you to see the whimsy, the love, and how overwhelming a world of unknowns can be. The overall portrayal of the children’s chorus is incredibly recognizable, endearing, and laugh out loud hillarious. It’s quite welcoming to see the ordinary challenge of dealing with seemingly everyday things, and provides the simplicity needed to reach a younger audience while reminding older audiences of the sometime s triviality of our fears and how we mis-assign the actual cause of our problems to the things that remind us of them.
